Hawk Mountain : Hawk Mountain is a 2,600 acre sanctuary that sits along the Appalachain Trail, nestled among the rolling hills of Pennsylvania farm country. Each year almost 20,000 thousand raptors ride the winds of the mountain range south to escape the cold of winter. On a cool and crisp autumn day, a friend and I took a trip up during the peak of the migration season. The weather oscillated between brooding clouds that sprayed light rain and bright beams of sunlight shining spotlights on the landscape. Later we capped it off with some hot cider at a local farm and caught a couple of rainbows in the setting sun.
